You’ll see two certifications on our LED Neon Flex products: RoHS and UL.

All of our LED NeonFlex products undergo all UL and RoHS compliance tests to keep our products safe. We are an environmentally conscious company. As such, it’s so important to us to meet the standards necessary to provide reliable, safe, and eco-friendly lighting.

What are RoHS certifications?

RoHS, or Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive, was put in place to restrict the use of hazardous materials in electrical equipment and reduce pollution in landfills.

The directive went into effect in 2006, and is heavily enforced throughout the European Union. Because of this, products sold in Canada and the EU must have an RoHS label. GLLS operates in both the United States and Canada.

Products must go through rigourous screening before being certified as RoHS compliant.

Four levels of compliance exist under the RoHS requirements.

What are UL certifications?

As with RoHS, UL from the Underwriter’s Laboratory also comes with multiple levels of certifications.

• Listing: A sample of the products met the specifications and requirements of the UL, therefore, the product may now use a UL Listing label.
• Classification: UL personally tested and evaluated samples of the product to ensure compliance with all safety and regulations.
• Performance Verification: UL tested the samples of the products against their performance standards, and the product meets or exceeds those standards.
• Functional Safety Listing: UL evaluated samples of the product and determined it meets safety requirements and all performance standards for that category.
